karin Online Arts Education Online CoursesI am Karin Merx, a course content creator, a professional academic, artist, musician, editor, and podcaster. I received a BMus degree in Classical Music, and B.A., M.A. degrees in Cultural Studies with a specialisation in Art History. I spent 20+ years teaching music and enjoy teaching about the subjects I love: English KS2, KS3, 11+, Dutch, art, music, cultural philosophy, art history, and cultural history. When not creating courses or doing research I adore illustrating books and book covers. My research interests are art history, popular culture, cultural philosophy, and music.

Karin has the following qualifications:

  • MA Cultural Studies (Art History, Cultural History, Cultural Philosophy, Literature), specialised in Art History, achieved in 2012 from Open University Netherlands.
  • BA Cultural Studies – Cultural Philosophy achieved in 2009 from Open University Netherlands.
  • BMus Sweelinck Conservatorium Amsterdam 1989 (flute).

FEE AGREEMENT

My hourly tutoring rate is £40/$54 per hour, the rate for Academic advice is £60/$80 per hour. That hour includes 50 minutes of tutoring and 10 minutes to check in about progress, payment and scheduling. I am not able to tutor for longer than the required 50 minutes per session unless otherwise arranged. The student/client agrees to pay my tutoring fee in advance or at the beginning of the tutoring session.

CANCELLATION POLICY

You may cancel your tutoring session with no penalty up to three days before the scheduled session. If, however, you cancel within 24 hours of the session, payment is due in full.

This tutoring agreement may be terminated at any time by any party, within the cancellation policy guidelines above.

SCHEDULING

A regular weekly scheduled session is best, but with notice, we may be able to adjust your tutoring session.

Tutoring Terms & Conditions

You will receive a form with the following information and this form must be filled in before tuition can begin.

  • All payment must be received in full via Paypal before the start of each tuition session.
  • Cancellations must be made up to 3 days in advance for a full refund, 48 hours in advance for a 50% refund and 12 hours for a 25% refund. There will be no refund for missed lessons or sessions which are cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice.
  • Tuition must take place via Skype, FaceTime or Google Hangout.
  • Although I will give my full effort, I cannot guarantee that students will attain their desired outcome. This isn’t necessarily a reflection on my tutoring ability and can often be due to external factors.
  • I require a deposit of one lesson’s tuition fees to secure your booking.
  • Although I work within academic guidelines, I do not do homework or assignment questions or essays that are meant to be the student’s own work.
  • Scheduled tutorials will always take place on the day and time and venue specified and agreed upon by email, unless a tutorial is rearranged for a time that is mutually convenient to both tutor and student. Lessons will continue until a mutually agreed termination date.
  • I strive to provide the best possible service. However, I will not be held accountable or responsible for the academic success or lack thereof demonstrated by the student/client. Although I will do everything in our power to help grades and skill sets improve, we can offer no guarantee thereto.
  • I am not liable for any direct, incidental, consequential, indirect, special, punitive or similar damages arising out of use of our tutoring service, or any errors or omissions in the content of our materials. You, the client specifically waive any and all claims arising out of the use of this tutoring service.
  • All materials I create in-house are copyright. You agree that you will not publish or distribute any portion of any materials without prior written permission.
  • All learning materials sourced from academic texts are subject to copyright and used under the guise of Educational Purposes only.
